The end of the line for the Hurricane CafĂ© (nee the Dog House) in Seattle’s Denny Triangle (nee the Denny Regrade).

Interesting time of year; the days are short and the shadows long- when we have shadows. Foreground is the Madison Heights condo building on Seattle’s Capitol Hill, built 1980 with retro design features. Background is the Bullitt Center, finished 2012 with a Jetsons look.
The Stimson-Green mansion at Minor and Seneca shares the skyline with more contemporary neighbors. Completed in 1901 for lumber tycoon CD Stimson, the house has been headquarters of Washington Trust for Historic Preservation.
New Ballard meets the Old. The building housing Mike’s Chili Parlor has been at 15th NW and Ballard Way since 1940. When Ballard Blocks went up a few years ago they built around Mike’s.

Bird’s eye view of Triton Terrace in Lower Queen Anne. Pity the most attractive side of the building is hidden from the public.

Which One?

New construction in Seattle. The listing broker chose the photo at left, giving the home a big blocky look. Aereal photo at right streamlines the structure and shows the vista seen from the living area.

Angry House

Something we see a lot of is The Angry House. It’s that house that looks as though it’s about to leap off the brow of the hill and come after us. Get the camera off the ground about 15 feet and voilĂ , an elegant composition that shows off the home’s setting and puts it firmly back on the foundation.
